Revelation of God
Theophany means “for God to show up and reveal Himself.” Epiphany means “to come upon the Lord.”
Transformational Manifestations
An epiphany is when we seek out revelation from God and He reveals something to us. The main point of studying the Bible is to have an epiphany that leads to an encounter with Jesus.
Knowing information without experiencing God will not produce transformational fruit.
We will produce fruit if we remain in Him, and He remains in us (John 15:5).
The Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation
God will give us a Spirit of wisdom and revelation so we may know Him better
(Ephesians 1:17). Every time you study the Scripture, you should leave transformed.
The Deity of Christ
John 1:10-12 “He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him…His own did not receive Him. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” Jesus came with His identity, demonstrating Who He was, but most did not believe or receive Him. It would be horrible to live in a place where no one believed who you were and even killed you because of who you said you were. That is what Jesus had to go through.
Revelation of Jesus Christ’s Deity
Christ is God. That is the difference between Christianity and all other religions in the world. Many believe that Jesus was a great teacher, philosopher, and healer, but only those who believe that He is God can share in His inheritance.
The deity of Christ has been a constant debate throughout history. The Nicene Creed was written in the 300’s A.D. to combat the heresy that was happening in the church where people believed that Jesus was not God. True Christians wrote the creed in response to the heresy; it was to reveal Who God truly was. The bishops who did not agree with the creed were killed. Although this is wrong, it is what happened then Throughout history, the Deity of Christ has been a constant debate.
Many Scriptures reveal God as a plural being. “God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). “Let Us make man in Our image” (Genesis 1:26). “The man has now become like one of Us”
(Genesis 3:22). “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form” (Colossians 2:9). The Bible is clear; Jesus is God.

- I Timothy 3:16 God manifested in the flesh and was taken into glory.

- John 14:9 Seeing Jesus is seeing the Father.
- I John 4:15 God abides in you and you are in God

- I John 5:7 The Three are One.
- Matthew 1:22-23 The virgin shall bear a Son and His name will be, “God with us.”
- Titus 2:13 Jesus is God and Savior.

- John 4:42 He is the Savior of the world. - We need to receive Jesus as God because only
God can deliver us and heal us.
God Forgives Sin
In Luke 5:20, Jesus says that He forgives a man. In the Old Testament, it says that only God can forgive sins (Micah 7:18).
In John 8:24, Jesus claims that He is God. John 20:21-23 Jesus sends the disciples and breathes on them the Holy Spirit and tells them that if they do not forgive people’s sins, then those
people’s sins will not be forgiven. He anointed them beyond their ability and gave them the ability to forgive sins. God has given us all of His authority to be able to act in His interests. This applies to healings, signs and wonders, etc.
The Son of God Is Equal to God
In John 5:18 Jesus calls Himself the begotten Son, making Him equal to God. He also broke the Sabbath and called God His own Father.
The Four Witnesses of Jesus’ Deity
1. The works that He did
2. John the Baptist (John 5)
3. The baptism—the Father witnesses Jesus as His Son. (Luke 3)
4. Moses and the Scriptures
Fulfilled Prophesies of Jesus
Only God can fulfill all the prophesies from the Old Testament. The odds of seeing one man completely fulfill all the prophecies that Jesus did are
astronomical. It is impossible for a human source to put together that many different words and stories from so many different authors and generations.
It Is Necessary to Believe That Christ Is God
Through believing that Jesus is God, we have access to the Holy Spirit. He is our salvation and was able to take on our sins because He was sinless. He conquered death.
Acts 4:12 “…there is no other name under heaven… by which we must be saved.”
There is no other Savior or option. Either Jesus is God, or we are all lost.
John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” He is the only way and the only truth.
There is no way to heaven, but through Jesus—He is the Door.
The Humanity of Christ
Gnosticism: Knowing Through Experience
Permeating the culture of Jesus’ time was the philosophical message called “Gnosticism”: all matter
is evil. It was about knowing through experience. Gnostics believed Jesus was of the earth, but became Christ at age 30 when he reached “spiritual enlightenment.” Before He died on the cross, the Christ in Him (the knowledge part) ascended to the Father.
Gnostics denied the idea that God would make Himself a man. Therefore, the goal was to get out of your body, which was evil, and tap into the “spiritual encounter” that would take you out of the evil world. 2 John 1:7-9 addresses this issue, telling us that if we do not believe that God came to
the earth as a man, we cannot have any part with Him. The Word was with God and
then became flesh (John 1:1,14).
The gnostics had to experience truth, so anything that was born into the world or made the world, was evil. They did not even believe that God made the earth.
Gnosis—means “experiential knowledge.” Today, we would call it “revelatory knowledge.”
You will have revelation of the truth of salvation and it will set you free (John 8:32).
Example: Genesis 4:1 The first use of the word “knowledge” was yada. Adam yada Eve
and they had a son. It is about experience and intimacy. It is about the intimate knowledge that fruit is born out of our lives.
Knowing Christ As a Man
It is important to understand that Christ was fully man because Hebrews 2:14-18 says that if He was not fully man, He could not be a legitimate sacrifice, nor show us the way to freedom.
The gnostic thinking even runs through the church today. Some Christians believe that we should not help the world because it is evil. They believe that God is going to destroy the world because He hates things that are full of sin. In John 3:16 says God loves the world! Whoever believes in Him and receives Him, will have eternal life.
John 20:21 Jesus, being God, was sent down to save the world, and as He was sent, He sends us. God gave us the authority to change the world. Rather than asking God to do something about the shape of the world, He is asking us to do something.
Jesus was sent with a message (Isaiah 61:1-7). The Spirit was upon Him to preach good news.
It was a messianic commission, and we are sent the same way.
Our Authority Revealed Through Christ
Jesus had the ability to Do Miracles. He was sent with authority. He had the Holy Spirit and was able to do the miracles because the Holy Spirit anointed Him and God was with Him.
He was operating as a human. He was able to do it—so are we! We can fulfill everything that Jesus commanded us to do.
God wants us to know Him experientially! He wants to show Himself through the knowledge of Him, to have spiritual experience with Him.
The Greek culture was polytheistic, meaning, they served many gods. “Logos” was the chief god of all the gods. He was in charge of the entire universe. You could never have a relationship with the chief god. He was so big and far away. But Jesus came as the Word (“Logos”) and dwelt among us.
John tells people that Jesus was the Word (Logos) of God and that you could have relationship with God. The Word (Logos) made Himself flesh and lived with us! (John 1:1,14). Jesus is Deity, both God and Man at the same time.
Christ In Us
We reveal Christ in His divinity through signs and wonders!
We demonstrate and reveal the Father. It is only through the Spirit and the Father working together that miracles happen. God wants to reveal Himself to all people on earth. But, in order to do that, we must have an encounter with God.
God wants us to have an encounter, so that we can be an encounter, so that others can have an
encounter. As God sent Jesus, He sends us—with the full authority and power that Jesus was sent with.
Lets Pray and ask God to give us the confidence, competence and the ability to demonstrate the divinity of Christ to everyone we meet.
